LYNC FOR MAC Disable "Save Lync Conversation Locally"

Hello,

I have been tasked with remotely disabling and blocking the option in lync to save lync conversations locally. This would, from that point forward, prevent any new conversations from being saved, BUT - we need the ability for the users to read previously saved conversations. simply giving read only rights to the 'Microsoft Lync History' folder wont do, as that displays a pop up staying the conversation could not be saved every time you exit out of a conversation. Is there a managed Pref that can do this as I don't wan't to run deskside to 8k + Macs

Have you tried disabling it at the policy level?  Something like this and granting the policy to a few Mac users to see if it works?

Set-CsClientPolicy Identity MacUsers EnableIMAutoArchiving $false EnableCallLogAutoArchiving $false

Hi hebbajebba,

I have tested setting the client policy and it does work.

After assigning the policy to user, the new IM conversation will not be saved to Outlook and also will not be displayed under the conversation history tab in Lync for Mac 2011. User still can review the previous conversation in Outlook Conversation History folder.

In addition, user still have the ability to save the IM conversation in local disk which is stored in the path: /Users/<username>/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Microsoft Lync History.

Hope this information is helpful.

Best regards,

Eric
